Recycling initiatives

Tessenderlo Group plays a direct part in several recycling initiatives, such as:

KURIO RECYCLING

Kurio RecyclingKURIO Recycling was founded in Belgium with the help of DYKA Plastics, one of the group’s major companies. KURIO focuses on the recycling of used plastic pipe systems of PVC (polyvinyl chloride), PP (polypropylene) and PE (polyethylene). The pipe systems leave the factory with a take-back guarantee. KURIO sets up gathering points for the collection of used pipes, where contractors can deposit their plastic waste free of charge (www.kurio.be).

BUREAULEIDING

The Association of Plastic Pipe Manufacturers in the Netherlands has created a system that offers take-back guarantees for used plastic pipes and a national collection system for these products.  The pipes are sorted and recycled into new pipes.  Dyka BV has a share in a recycling plant in the Netherlands called “De Hoeve”. This joint-venture between Dyka BV and the Wavin Group was set up in 1998 with the aim of recycling PVC pipe waste in the Netherlands ( www.bureauleiding.nl ).

In addition to these recycling initiatives, Tessenderlo Group also contributes to the financing of recycling projects as outlined in the Voluntary Commitment.  More information about this can be found in the section of VinylPlus.
