World Water Day 2010
12 March 2010
World Water Day 2010
The International World Water Day held annually on 22 March is a UN-Water initiative launched in 1992. This year's theme "Clean Water for a Healthy World" aims to communicate messages on water quality, ecosystems and human well being. Tessenderlo Group is proud to support this worldwide campaign.
It was the PVC4PIPES European Association who decided to help create a buzz about World Water Day by joining the UN-Water campaign. LVM, Dyka and Sotra-Seperef, subsidiary companies of Tessenderlo Group and members of PVC4PIPES, will be supporting the message that life needs clean water, and this depends on how the water quality is protected.
LVM is a major producer of the PVC that is used for drinking water infrastructure. Both Dyka and Sotra-Seperef are producers of high quality plastic pipe systems. Plastic pipe systems ensure a reliable drinking water infrastructure that prevents contamination risks and losses of water. These systems separate rain water from used water and allow the reutilisation of rain water.
Yet, Tessenderlo Group contributes in more ways to cleaner water. In Europe, the company is a supplier of water purification products to plants of major cities such as Paris, Brussels and Genova. It is a market leader in ferric chloride, an environment-friendly chemical used for the purification of water. Tessenderlo Group manufactures ferric chloride from waste streams and turns it into a resource for the environment.
In the US, Tessenderlo Kerley's NSF-certified calcium thiosulfate solution Captor® is used to solve a number of water and wastewater treatment related problems. Captor® results in a more efficient dechlorination of water.
