Caustic soda
Caustic soda is produced together with chlorine during the electrolysis of sodium chloride.
Whereas the chlorine is entirely for captive use, the caustic soda is commercialised as a 50 % lye.
Tessenderlo Group commercialises only liquid caustic soda into the N-W European market.
Caustic soda is used in a wide variety of applications such as aluminium production, in the pulp and papermaking industry, in chemicals, for water treatment and the manufacture of detergents and soaps as well as rayon.
