Strategy

Tessenderlo Group's global strategy can be summarised as follows:

  • Strengthen the diversified and well-balanced line of activities

  • Increase the share of specialities to over 70 % of the revenue

  • Achieve and maintain leadership positions in niche markets

  • Focus on profitability

  • Obtain a return on capital employed (ROCE) of at least 12 % in all businesses by 2012

  • Maintain a stable dividend growth

 

The group intends to accomplish this strategy through:

  • Allocating the resources available for development mainly to three business areas:

    1.  Plastics Converting, with special emphasis on development in Europe.

    2. Gelatin, with the aim of maintaining Tessenderlo Group's position among the leaders by reinforcing our international presence.

    3. Businesses combining services and valorisation of by-products, which are activities close to customers, drawing on the strong experience we have already accumulated in this area.

  • Favouring alliances wherever they can increase our competitiveness in the main commodities
    Disposing of businesses that are unable to meet the return on capital employed target by 2012.
