TKI Process Chemical Solutions

Tessenderlo Kerley, a leading manufacturer of process chemicals for industrial applications, provides sulphur-based solutions to customers for many applications including chemical processing, energy, environmental, food, water and wastewater, and mining industries. Our engineering, research and development laboratory strives to provide profit-enhancing, cost-reducing solutions to improve and enhance your chemical production processes.

Overview

Chemical Processing:

We offer a growing portfolio of products for the chemical processing sector by providing a variety of sulphur solutions used as reducing agents, antioxidants, preservatives and scavenging. Our products play an integral role in the manufacture of numerous finished products.

Environmental:

Several of our products are used in the waste treatment industry to extract heavy metals in remediation projects. Our sulphur-based metal precipitants and reductants are environmentally sound and cost effective.

Calmet® (calcium polysulfide solution) is a water based, lime-sulpher solution designed to be used in various treatment systems as a metal precipitating agent. Soluble toxic metals, i.e. chromium, lead cadmium and copper, as well as other heavy metals, may present a major health risk. Geochemical fixation using a chemical reductant such as Calmet® converts the soluble toxic metals into insoluble non-toxic compounds.

Energy:

Tessenderlo Kerley understands the energy sectors and its ever-changing environmental pressures. We are developing chemistry to address these pressures. One of our many advances is a product to scavenge free cyanide and convert it to a more ecofriendly thiocyanate. We have developed a "Technical Survey" for our customers to detect cyanides in refineries in order to prevent
potential problems.

Food:

Our food-grade, ammonium bisulphite solution is Kosher certified and is used as a reducing agent and is blended with other raw materials to improve the performance and stability in the caramel coloring, corn syrup and sugar refining industries.

Water/Wastewater:

As new opportunities arise we are positioned to expand into these areas, providing effective production and environmental solutions. Our NSF-certified calcium thiosulphate solution (Captor®) is instrumental in solving a number of problems for water and wastewater treatment plant operators. Captor helps in achieving sufficient mixing and reaction time in the treatment process, resulting in more efficient dechlorination. Other applicable chemistries are our polysulphides, sodium dimethyldithiocarbamates and sodium thiocarbonates.

Mining:

Our Thio-Gold™ (brand of ammonium thiosulphate solution) is an attractive lixiviant for the extraction of gold and silver. Thiosulphate is considered a non-toxic alternative to cyanide and the gold dissolution rates can be faster than conventional cyanidation. And, high gold recoveries may be obtained from the thiosulphate leaching of complex and carbonaceoustype ores.

Currently, our Process Division provides a wide range of products for use as depressants, sulphidizers, collectors, frothers and filter aid chemical reagents for metal purification, primarily from copper, gold and molybdenum ores. We are involved in a joint venture with Quimica de Mexico, as Alkemin, S. de R.L. de C.V. Alkemin is manufacturing and marketing a wide variety of xanthates, which are used in ore separation; and DOSS-Dioctylsulphosuccinates (neat and blended), utilized as a mining reagent and in coatings. DOSS is also used in paper production and as a filtration aid. We welcome the opportunity to review your unique product specifications for needed applications.

Tessenderlo Kerley can custom-formulate materials to best suit your specific needs and requirements.
