Business Development Manager CLARO

Job description

  • You create and shape business opportunities for CLARO, turn these into concrete projects and apply the necessary steps supported by your commercial and business acumen to grow existing business and generate new business
  • You develop a business plan, take ownership of product development strategies, product & inventory strategy and market introduction activities;
  • You develop a marketing plan which translates the scientific insights into a value proposition and take the lead in designing and organizing practicalities on new product development (prioritisation,IP protection, product documentation, packaging and branding).
  • You stay on top of market trends and evolutions in related domains and know what the different stakeholders in the market ecosystem are focusing on;
  • You identify potential customers, develop customer relationship and develop a growth strategy focues on the unmet needs of the customer;
  • You ensure Tessenderlo Group remains proactive and responsive to prospective customers;
  • You source partnering opportunities with universities and leading research institutions in the field and identify commercial opportunities from technology providers;
  • You co-develop a pipeline of innovative products and services to drive topline portfolio growth and margin expansion;
  • You work closely with Tessenderlo Group researchers and Innovation colleagues to develop business materials in support of start-up opportunities;


  • You have at least 3-5 years relevant experience as a (new) business creator or developer (preferably in the biotech industry); optionally in an incubator or start-up setting
  • You have a Master’s degree in Science, and preferably a degree in business management or an MBA
  • You are a natural networker with excellent communication and influencing skills that can connect with multiple stakeholders
  • You have a big interest in how things work from a technical perspective
  • You are an entrepreneur with hands on mentality
  • You are a creative thinker, seeing new ways existing opportunities could be developed
  • You have acquired strong analytical skills, communication & negotiation skills
  • Ability to apply critical thinking skills to take a proactive approach to problem solving
  • You are open to travel (+- 20% of the time)
  • You report into the Tessenderlo Innovation center, located in Tessenderlo
