Join our Transportation team as a Rail Pricing & Performance Specialist, and you will be part of an award-winning team of Transportation Specialists that are committed to Safety every day. Our safety-focused team thrives in offering innovative solutions and high-quality, reliable transportation services in a demanding growing business culture.
At Tessenderlo Kerley, our transportation Rail team is a vital artery of our success. On a typical day, you could expect to be involved in providing cost-effective solutions, delivery cost analysis, managing on-time delivery of products, and exporting shipments, among other tasks.
As the Rail Pricing and Performance Specialist, you will have opportunities to assist and identify strategies to enhance financial opportunities and performance for the business. In addition, you will be working with three other specialists, focusing on safely managing bulk shipment supplies of Tessenderlo Kerley products to customers and terminals. You will work closely with the supply chain team, plant operations, and sales personnel, along with finance and IT.

What you will do:
- Obtains and challenges rail rates for best lane, optimal transit, and price.
- Analyze existing rates and rail tariff regulations, and recommend changes in the rate structure.
- Identify optimal routing analysis.
- Prepares tariff proposals and executes negotiations for the best cost position.
- Assist in strategic and tactical asset planning.
- Identify and implement optimal performance metrics and strategies.
- Builds supporting data and information for the rail budget.
- Assists in performing various financial analyses for Business Units.
- Assists and identifies strategies to enhance financial opportunities and performance measures.
- Work with Supply Chain to ensure equipment inventory is in line with seasonal supply needs.
- Work with vendors for compliance scheduling and mobile repairs.
- Order parts for plants pertaining to the rail fleet.
- Assist in creating and maintaining purchase orders and work orders in SAP.
- Liaison for our internal and external customers to address concerns related to rail.
- Act as a stand-in for Rail Distribution during PTO.
- Assist in auditing jeopardized rail reports.
- Arrange intercostal deliveries.
- Audit and approve vendor invoices.

- Understanding of DOT regulations (49CFR) and FRA.
- Experience in transportation or related environment.
