We are currently looking for a Regulatory Affairs Manager to strengthen the current regulatory team for the agricultural and industrial solutions activities of the Group. The focus lies on demonstrating the quality, conformity, safety and efficacy of our fertilizer and industrial chemical products to the competent authorities, as well as playing a proactive, societal role in complying with environmental trends and changing regulatory framework.

You report into the Tessenderlo Innovation Team. You will be based in Brussels, Tessenderlo or optionally Loos (France).

You have regulatory accountability for our commercial sulfur based solid and liquid mineral fertilizers, e.g. potassium sulfate (SOP), thiosulfates (S2O32-, such as ammonium thiosulfate, calcium thiosulfate and potassium thiosulfate), its raw materials, as well as our new fertilizer developments.

  • You have a pivotal role in the construction of our new organic fertilizer platform and the development of a country-based and European compliance strategy for our new organic fertilizers;
  • You will be responsible for regulatory compliance of our industrial solutions division Kuhlmann, headquartered in Loos (France), including coagulants, biocides and other chemicals for either the purification of drinking water or the treatment of wastewater,  eg FeCl3, NaOH, NaOCl, H2SO4, HCl, …
  • You are the expert in regulatory affairs internally and externally or develop yourself in this direction. Internally, you bring regulatory trends and risks early on to the attention of the management and turn them into opportunities for the company (sustainability, EU Green Deal, ….). You also provide adequate and pragmatic regulatory advice;
  • For existing chemical substances: you develop, own and enable the REACH compliance process, in EU as well as relevant other geographies (such as UK, Turkey) and secure all necessary registrations Group-wide;
  • For new product developments: you secure compliance with REACH legislation and with other required product legislations globally (except US), via national or EU routes, i.e. fertilizer regulations, biocide regulations, food chemicals (securing Licenses- to-Operate and Licenses-to-Sell);
  • You provide expert advice & coordinate all regulatory activities in several other business processes (like advising commercial teams, production, innovation department);
  • You ensure regulatory compliance in case of product or process changes;
  • You advise on various aspects of the management and production of all existing products and new product developments, in order to provide several departments education and specific regulatory advice and solutions;
  • You professionalize regulatory processes within the relevant Business Units, develop standard regulatory Q&As to efficiently streamline and coordinate questionnaires from customers and other stakeholders;   
  • You are externally strongly connected with Regulatory organizations and peer functions/groups and are a regarded as a credible regulatory expert;
  • You seek for external Regulatory support whenever necessary to meet project goals and deadlines.

Profile

  • You have a Master degree in Science or Engineering, preferably in an chemical direction or equivalent by experience;
  • You have regulatory experience or a strong affinity for this profession;
  • In depth knowledge on toxicology is a plus;
  • You are fluent in Dutch and English, both spoken and written. Knowledge of French is a plus;
  • You are capable of working accurately and independently in a team setting;
  • You have excellent organizational skills, you are trustworthy and responsible;
  • You have strong and open communication skills;
  • You are flexible, willing to go the extra mile, hands-on mentality & pro-active attitude.
  • You can deal and manage in situations of unambiguity and be result-oriented in a changing regulatory framework and volatile business world.
