Driving decarbonization forward with lower‑carbon transport

Tuesday, April 21, 2026

At Tessenderlo Group, reducing emissions means looking at how we operate every day, including how products are transported. Transport plays a real role in our footprint, and lowering transport emissions is a key part of our decarbonization journey.
In 2025, several teams took concrete steps by switching to electric and lower‑carbon trucks. These initiatives contribute to the structural emission reductions that are bringing Tessenderlo Group close to its 2030 climate target, years ahead of plan.
DYKA Netherlands: Electric transport to the branch and various construction sites in Amsterdam

Electric trucks are used to move products between the production site in Steenwijk and the branch network, including deliveries to construction sites in Amsterdam. For longer routes, DYKA Netherlands works with Oegema Transport BV using a large electric trailer combination. For urban deliveries, a smaller electric truck is operated in partnership with Martin van den Bogerd Logistiek BV.

By choosing electric trucks where they make operational sense, DYKA Netherlands reduces CO₂ emissions while keeping logistics reliable and efficient, also enabling zero‑emission deliveries in busy city environments.

Tessenderlo Kerley International: Greener daily shuttles in Belgium

Teams at Tessenderlo Kerley International made an important change to daily shuttle operations in Ham. In December 2025, two diesel trucks were replaced by one fully electric truck and one truck running on biodiesel (HVO) for the shuttle between the production site and the bagging and loading operations at Katoen Natie Tessenderlo.

The electric truck alone reduces CO₂ emissions by around 41.5 tons per year on this route. It also lowers noise levels, improving the local environment. This project shows how smarter operational choices can benefit both the business and the surroundings in which we operate.

These lower‑carbon transport initiatives are part of the actions achieved in 2025 within our decarbonization roadmap. By electrifying transport where possible and using lower‑carbon fuels elsewhere, we reduce emissions today and build long‑term value.
Because at Tessenderlo Group, we build for future generations.
