What you will become part of

Optimistic about the potential of our planet and its people

  • The world today faces great challenges. Yet at Tessenderlo Group, we are optimistic. Optimistic about the potential of our planet and its people. And optimistic in our belief that prosperity and sustainability can go hand in hand. That is because we are driven by a simple but powerful conviction: Every Molecule Counts.

    Every Molecule

We believe in the power of smart industry to create positive impact: our group is built with a clear focus on agriculture, food, water management, specialty upcycling, and energy. And in everything we do, we seek to further valorize the resources at our disposal. This counts just as much for the end products we make, which we constantly optimize, as for the by-products from our processes, which we consistently seek to repurpose as best we can.

  • Every Molecule Counts is a pragmatic, self-evident approach to sustainable manufacturing and business, ingrained in our DNA. Our group started off over 100 years ago, processing simple raw materials, such as sulfur, sodium, and potassium salts to manufacture sulfur-based fertilizers. To this day, we are still continuously improving these fertilizers, and proudly so, to help feed the world’s growing population as effectively as possible. But there’s more. When making sulfur-based fertilizers, side-streams of hydrochloric acid and chlorine are released. Contrary to the ways of working at the time, our founders did not want to let these side-streams go to waste, so they sought and developed new applications for them. That is how we started to make gelatin and collagen for use in food and health applications, for example. Or how we got to making ferric chloride for water treatment, supplying the city of Paris with fresh drinking water.

We are constantly transforming, optimizing processes, adding value, and upcycling materials that in many cases might otherwise have been discarded. That is how we make the most of our planet’s  resources. Every Molecule Counts conveys our belief that any action, however small, can play its part in changing the world. This vision is tangible in our company culture today, and we owe that to our people, who make it count, pushing the needle, every single day.

We make it count – entrepreneurship @Tessenderlo Group

We thrive on initiative and clever ideas, wherever they come from: yours will be as good as anyone else’s. If you spot an opportunity that makes sense, chances are that you’ll see it realized: we simply hate to let a good opportunity slip.

The world doesn’t wait, so neither do we. Our decision lines are short and effective. We don’t have a heavy corporate structure, which ensures that things can happen quickly. We get it done.

As true entrepreneurs, we find that money well-spent is money spent on opportunities. Whether that be a business opportunity or an opportunity for (your) development, we’re investing for the long run.

Investing for the long run

Not that long ago, in 2019, Tessenderlo Group celebrated its 100th anniversary. We felt that this milestone should be celebrated in style, with a family day for all our employees. Not only are we proud of our long-term, stable fruition but we are also proud of our steady growth. Many factors are contributing to that growth: our belief that Every Molecule Counts, and the grit of our people to push the needle every day, but also, rather remarkably, the fact that every gain we make is immediately reinvested in the group. This is a powerful differentiator in today’s corporate world.

our attitudes

How we look at the world: our attitudes

The various different business units and companies of Tessenderlo Group are not all involved in the same activities. But we are united by our belief that Every Molecule Counts, and we share the same attitudes:

Our 6 attitudes indicate what we consider to be most important as a group, supporting a company culture that focuses on excellence and sustainable growth. However, while these attitudes act as a source of inspiration, they only really exist to the extent that we practice them. This is why we are committed to actively applying our attitudes in our everyday work. Because it reflects positively on our colleagues, customers, and other stakeholders. As a result, they clearly see our entrepreneurial spirit and job satisfaction, and our value-driven, “can-do” mentality.
